Looking Forward to Part 3

Atlas Shrugged Part 2 earned a wretched $91,000 in its third weekend, compared to the $468,000 even its turkey predecessor was bringing in at the same point in its run.

Incidentally, Box Office Mojo estimates that Sandy may have affected sales by "at worst 10%".

For some reason, I'm reminded of that King from Monty Python and the Holy Grail who built four castles in the swamp...

"The third one WILL become a monstrous success, surely!"

The figure of $91,000 is the good news part compared to what has happened since. Atlas Shrugged Box Office take for November 16-22: $7,207 spread across 35 theatres for an average of $206 per venue. This compares somewhat unfavourably with the results during the same week for Breaking Dawn, which earned $183,881,000 at 4,070 theatres for an average of $45,180 per venue. Objectivist may love free markets, but the free market sure doesn't love them.
